Saidi Balogun first began acting in various stage plays during primary school. His first paid acting gig was in 1978 on a program entitled “Youth Today,” which aired on NTV (now NTA) Lagos. Balogun produced his first film entitled “City Girl,” in Yoruba language in 1989.
After nearly 25 years of producing films, he has grown to become one of the most popular and respected Nigerian filmmakers in the industry. Balogun has acted in, directed and produced countless English and Yoruba films and won multiple awards for his work. Breaking barriers and being the first to introduce several new concepts into Nollywood, Balogun has produced top selling feature films such as “Gbogbo Ere,” “Sako Jiya,” “Modupe Temi,” “Eti Keta,” and most recently “You Or I.” Balogun also produced the hit Africa Magic TV series “Oriki Yoruba” with a new season coming soon.
In addition to being a filmmaker, actor, and director, Balogun is also an event compere and a musician dabbling in the fuji genre.
